Cleaning Wooden Window Frames

Saturate the sills and frames with the liquid and wait 10 minutes. Wet a sponge in the soapy water. Clean the sills from the dirt with a dry soft brush or a cloth. An annual clean with water and a mild liquid detergent is good enough for most doors including those wood doors that have been stained or painted.

Rinse the window casings well. Wet a sponge and run it along the full frame making sure to get into cracks and crevices as well. Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water and add 2 or 3 teaspoons of laundry detergent. Spray this mixture on the window frame in all the places that you just covered with baking soda.

Step 6 apply antifungal paint. Wipe down the frames with a damp cloth. Put on rubber gloves and an n 95 particle mask. Let it air dry the rest of the way afterward.

Wipe the frames with a clean dry cloth or dry sponge to absorb any remaining liquid or moisture on the surface. Alternatively use biological wash powder diluted in warm water. To remove it simply use a 3 concentration of hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Hydrogen peroxide is a good option for removing it from wooden frames and sills.

Add a few drops of dish soap and shake it well. It is important that no amount of moisture is left on the surface as this will only encourage new mildew growth. If your window frames are particularly grubby and washing up liquid isn t quite cutting it add a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to give it a little more kick. As you clean and again six months later make a point to check the condition of your wood door.

The liquid penetrates the porous material and is anti fungal and anti bacterial. Vacuum the big parts of dust from the floor. Sprinkle baking soda on the edge of the window frame and make sure it also gets in the corners and grooves. Get your window frames wet before you begin cleaning.

Allow the bleach to sit on the casings for 15 minutes to disinfect and kill any mold spores that remain. Scrub the window casings with this mixture using a clean rag. This will loosen dirt and dust making the cleaning process go smoother. To properly clean wooden windows frames.

This is particularly good for removing organic matter such as bird droppings and plant sap. Fill the spray bottle with equal amounts of cleaning vinegar and water. Be sure to rinse off the solution then dry thoroughly.
